
Clara Cassan

Clara Cassan is an intellectual property and media litigation associate at Klaris Law. She represents publishers, news organizations, artists and authors on a wide range of intellectual property, First Amendment, and media disputes.
Prior to joining Klaris, Clara was a litigation attorney at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP within the firm’s Art Law group where she represented cultural institutions, art galleries, artist estates, and artists. She is also experienced in international arbitration. Following Hughes Hubbard, Clara was a federal law clerk for U.S. Magistrate Judge Vera M. Scanlon in the Eastern District of New York.
Before and during law school, Clara worked in the art market as a provenance researcher, a curator, and an international consultant on cultural heritage for UNESCO.
Clara is Franco-American and grew up in Manhattan and Paris. She graduated magna cum laude from the Université Montpellier I with a degree in International Law before earning two master’s degrees from Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne in International Law and Art Law. She then received her LL.M in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law from Fordham University School of Law.
In addition to being admitted to practice law in New York, Clara is a certified yoga teacher. She lives in Brooklyn.
